6th Gear PR is a freelance motorsport journalism and PR business run by professional journalist Amanda Cornforth from her offices in North Yorkshire..

Background:

After graduating from university in 2003 with a 2.1 honours degree in Journalism Studies from the University of Sunderland, Amanda went straight into working for The Press Association, where she initially began as a copytaker before moving into the sports department as a trainee sports journalist in January 2004.

Amanda specialised in motorsport reporting, covering everything right through from Formula One, the World Rally Championship and MotoGP to British Touring Cars, the British Rally Championship and British Superbikes.

In July 2004, Amanda branched out into freelance motorsport journalism and PR, operating under the name 6th Gear PR. In November 2005 she moved into a role as a PR account executive within Motorsport and Automotive PR at RSM, where she worked on some large client accounts.

Amanda left her position at RSM in April 2006 to focus her attentions on 6th Gear PR and working freelance, as well as competing herself in the ANCC championship and being an active committee member of Northallerton Auto Club. Her business continues to expand due to her commitment, knowledge and ambition.
